The recently expanded Compassionate Use Act provides additional medical conditions for which low-THC cannabis may be prescribed. On September 11th, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) held a public hearing to define one of the newly added qualifying conditions, “Incurable Neurodegenerative Diseases”. In anticipation of an increase in demand for low-THC cannabis, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will reopen the application process for dispensing organization licenses on October 1, 2019. Applications will be accepted through November 1, 2019. Applicants can find more information HERE. Patients wishing to participate should review this FAQand consult their doctor.
